FAQ

How long does each session last?

Sessions last 50 minutes and tend to be weekly. Some clients can if they prefer, to book 2-sessions a week or a longer session for an initial appointment. This is normally the case if there is an issue a client wants to intensely explore, but do not want to leave a long time in between sessions.

Coaching sessions are 60 minutes long and sessions are agreed after the first meeting. I offer a free telephone consultation if you want to decide between counselling or coaching up to you.

What is your cancelation policy? and do I have to pay for missed appointments?

Your appointment is reserved just for you. There is a no-show policy in place, meaning you have to give 48-hours notice to cancel appointments, otherwise you will be charged.

I'm really unsure and nervous about therapy?

Starting therapy can be daunting, a bit like starting a new job. However, your nerves will settle after the first session and if you feel comfortable with your therapist.

What Payment methods do you accept?

All sessions are paid in cash at the beginning of each session.

What is your availability?

I counsel Tuesday - Friday and Wednesday evenings and my appointments slots are subject to availability.

What is the difference between coaching and counselling with you?

Counselling is a talking therapy, one where you are in total control of what happens in the therapy room with support from me. We work collaboratively and work towards your goals at your pace.
Coaching is what it says, we work out what it is your wanting to change, achieve, or do and we work out a plan to get there. I coach you by guiding and encouraging with my background knowledge of psychological barriers/defences and help you push past them in order to achieve your c xgoal with input from me. You may only require fewer sessions in order to achieve your goals.

Is there parking on site?

I work from 3 sites, Kings Norton, Harborne, and Oldbury/Halesowen

There is free parking on all sites on a first come first serve basis. However, there is on-street parking near the buildings.

Will I be doing all the talking?

It depends on what we're working on. In some cases, you may find you want to talk more. At other times I may give you more input. We will figure it out together.

How long is therapy For?

This partly depends on you and partly on the therapy your having for the presenting problem. I work long term (ongoing) and short term and I say a (minimum 6 sessions) unless agreed otherwise.
